A Letter To My Daughter On Her Very First Birthday!

March 6, 2015

Her smile makes me smile. Her laugh is infectious. Her heart is pure and true. Above all, I love that she is my daughter.

My Dear Sweet Fiona,

Today is an important day! It is your birthday! Your very first one at that and I’m so excited for you.. Who am I kidding? I’m just as excited for me too! One year ago today, at precisely 12:39pm, you were born. Your father and I were over the moon when this beautiful, healthy, pinkish , and tiny little baby girl came out of me. What did we do that was so special to be awarded this masterpiece? How did we get so lucky to produce you??

This has been the most wonderful, confusing, stressful, and exhilarating year I have ever experienced in my life! How fast you went from an immobile sleeping beauty to an inquisitive and energetic moving machine! Your father and I never thought in a million years that we would the proud parents of such an exceptional human being!

Miss Fiona, If the rest of the years go as fast as this first one you will be a young lady in no time! Please cherish ever second of your youth. Your innocence is so refreshing to come home to every night after a long day at work! My love for you is impossible to measure. My love for you has no ending sides which makes my love wider than wide! My love will never diminish, it will only grow and just so you know, no matter how much you age or how much you stray from my snuggies, you are always mommy’s little Love Bug!

Love You Tons,

Mommy

  1. The love of a mother is the best! Yes, those days will fly by, so capture them with your words, so they can be savored and bring you back to the moment. Do you know the book, Fiona Loves the Night by Patricia MacLachlan? Could become a favorite of Fiona’s. 🙂

  2. Beautiful letter! I hope you share this with your daughter when she’s old enough to understand. My daughter also turned one last week, so I really appreciated reading how you put everything in my own heart into your words. Enjoy every moment with your beautiful baby girl!
